Sunday’s Pie

leave a comment »

Sunday’s Pie went to to Williamsburg to visit Mike and Whiskey’s garden and meet the gigantic blue cowhead, before becoming the closing act to a spectacular meal from Laura’s kitchen. Sunday’s pie was shared with Laura, Fred, John and John, and Elyse. Fred said breakfast pie is the best pie, so the remainder was left for Fred and Laura and Desi to enjoy in the morning.

Fred and Laura and John L. were there that summer I first made cherry pie on a visit to their summer house. There, Fred taught himself to fly fish and I would pick blackberries on long walks along the train tracks. And one morning I sat on the back porch and pitted my first two quarts of sour cherries.
