Laura’s Pie

with one comment

This pie was regaled with stories of record surf on city beaches. But it was Laura who lured the pie to Brooklyn with promises of wheat salad, tomato salad from the backyard, grilled beef, blistered Shishito peppers, pizzas, and arugula salad (also from the garden). Fred gave us a tour of the latest developments of the garden: the shady parts, the fruit trees, the Himrod vines, the sunny parts peppered with cactus and medicinal herbs.

Kurt, Meg, Rosane, Greg, Desi, and Alex were at Fred and Laura’s table as she sliced the pie.

And Alex came back for the last piece from the game room.

  1. it was a sweet/tart evening, capped by elaine’s harrowing tales of living in an ice cave on a frozen minnesota lake. (made our pie idyll seem all the more luscious.)

turns out spicy dry-rubbed hanger steak is better (juicier) pan-sauteed than grilled…
