Secret Pie Break in the Pen

with 2 comments

Every morning a certain person visits the pen and says, “May I sniff today’s pie?” Sometimes she comes by twice. She lifts the lid of the basket and positions her face as though giving herself a steam facial. And then the big audible sniff as though she were trying to steal the soul of the pie.

  1. These pie slice pictures are really making me wish I took the time to make one myself.

  2. A pie’s soul cannot be stolen. However, over-sniffing pies might result in ‘soul radiation’ effect where pie soul vapors afflict the sniffer’s native soul. The person becomes increasingly pie-like–but what is virtue for a pie (silence, nobility) can be devastating for the individual, depending on their native qualities. For a professional thief, for instance, to become more pie-like, which is to say, more virtuous, could be a career-ending state of affairs. This is the reason the hobo takes only a brief sniff before stealing a pie from the window ledge and directly puts it into his kerchief, tied to the end of a long stick.
